Itinerary
This tour begins with pickup from your hotel around 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. We will then depart by bus south of Cusco, where we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes. The first stop will be the archaeological site of Tipón, an Inca ceremonial center where a stone canal controlled the flow of water from the high peaks of Pachatusan Hill to the lowlands of the valley.
Afterwards, we will visit the Pikillacta Archaeological Complex, which literally means “city of fleas.” It is an ancient walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centers of the Wari culture during its expansion toward the city of Cusco.
Finally, we will conclude the tour with a visit to the beautiful Andahuaylillas Church, a small gem from the Colonial period, also known as “The Sistine Chapel of America.” Inside, we will find an impressive collection of canvases with gold-leafed frames and mural paintings, Baroque altarpieces, and more. We’ll also be able to see the famous pentalinguistic gate.
We’ll be back in Cusco at approximately 2:30 p.m.
